
Ramallah Municipality, in cooperation with Al Nayzak Foundation and the Engineers Association, announced the results of the international competition to design the Ramallah City of Science and Technology Building, where:
🥇 First Place: Atelier of Spatial Matters team – Singapore – $6,000.
🥈 Second Place: BAYAT ARCHITECTS team – UAE – $4,000.
🥉 Third Place: Nanjing Atypiarch Architecture and Technology Co., Ltd team – China – $2,000.
🏅 First Honorable Mention: DROO Da Costa Mahindro Architects / Trading for Papillon Europe Limited team – United Kingdom.
🏅 Second Honorable Mention: The DYZign Studio team – Palestine.
During the event, Ramallah Mayor Issa Kassis emphasized that the project is not just a building, but a comprehensive educational, cultural, and entrepreneurial platform aimed at:
- Enabling students and innovators to develop their scientific and practical skills.
- Promoting innovation and creativity in science and technology.
- Creating job opportunities for researchers, artists, and engineers.
- Engaging creators in designing innovative scientific exhibits that reflect the municipality’s vision of turning challenges into real opportunities for future generations.
He expressed his deep appreciation to all partners and contributors, stressing that the project is a genuine investment in the Palestinian people and their scientific and cultural future.
For his part, Al Nayzak Foundation Director Eng. Aref Husseini stressed that the project:
- Reflects a shared vision among Al Nayzak Foundation, Ramallah Municipality, the Engineers Association, and educational and community partners.
- Represents an investment in the Palestinian people and their ability to innovate and create.
- Has, through its temporary headquarters, established an inspiring environment for experimentation and learning.
- Demonstrated that outstanding designs from around the world affirm the value of national cooperation, making the project a symbol of hope and a genuine platform for knowledge.
Engineers Association President Tareq Al-Zrou pointed out that the competition:
- Reflects a strategic vision to enhance the role of architecture and engineering in serving the community.
- Opened new horizons for scientific and technological creativity.
- Was carefully prepared to ensure transparency, fairness, and professionalism in judging.
- Adheres to concepts of sustainable architecture and green buildings that harmonize with the environment.
He expressed his deep gratitude to Ramallah Municipality, Al Nayzak Foundation, and all participants, wishing that these designs would contribute to shaping an urban and scientific future that meets the city’s aspirations.
Head of the jury committee, Eng. Hani Hasan, explained the judging criteria adopted to select the winning projects, noting the committee members:

- Dr. Yara Al-Saifi
- Eng. Mudhar Al-Khatib
It is worth mentioning that 17 engineering offices from Palestine and abroad participated in the competition—from Singapore, UAE, China, United Kingdom, United States, Indonesia, and Bulgaria. These offices presented innovative and diverse designs that reflected their technical and architectural expertise, adding an international dimension to the competition and confirming Ramallah’s ability to attract the best architects and creators worldwide to exchange new ideas in scientific and cultural design.
